Jean M. DeAngelo, 84, of Torrington, died peacefully at home on December 24, 2014 with her daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Weed M. DeAngelo, to whom she had been married to for 61 years.
Mrs. DeAngelo was born in Torrington on May 18, 1930, daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Wade) Spiegelhalter. She was a graduate of St. Francis School and Torrington High School. Family being Jean’s priority, she chose to stay at home to raise her children until they were of high school age, at which time she re-entered the workforce. She was employed by the Torin/Nidec Corporation until their closure. She also worked in the Litchfield Public Schools in the school lunch program until her retirement.
Mrs. DeAngelo most enjoyed her time spent with her extended family; always looking forward to going out for her weekly lunch with her daughter Audrey and niece Cathy. She loved when Jillian or Jarred would just “pop in” to see her, they always brightened her day. She was a true sports enthusiast, following both the UCONN men and women and was a diehard Red Sox fan. She enjoyed her weekly card games with the family, was an avid reader, duckpin bowler and loved baking and cooking for her family. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce DeAngelo, Audrey and her husband Thomas Lukens, all of Torrington; her “adopted” grandchildren, Jillian and Jarred Kilmer, Emily and Nathan Kupcho, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her three brothers, Wilfred, Edward and Henry Spiegelhalter.
