Jim Gagnon Sr. of Torrington, Connecticut and longtime resident of Colebrook took his final breath peacefully and comfortably on December 15th in the loving company of his family. Both Keystone Place and Foothills VNA were outstanding in how thoughtfully they ensured that he and his family were comfortable in his final days.
He will be remembered as a talented, hardworking, kind, humble renaissance man with a loving heart. Son, Brother, Father, Grandfather, United States Marine, Athlete, Skilled Laborer, Teacher, Artist, Pewtersmith, Mastercraftsman & Husband. Jim had an excitement for life and a purity of soul that was an inspiration to those closest to him. His marriage of 28 years to Janet was a daily example of how much love and appreciation can be shared between two people, and the energetic stories of his upbringing in both Van Buren, Maine and Simsbury will be cherished.
He is survived by his loving wife Janet, his three children Michelle, Estelle, James Jr., his grandchildren Wesley and Roselyn, mother Cora, and siblings Mike Gagnon and Suzanne Zupin. Countless extended family and friends will also forever remember the strength he’s provided them, One Day At A Time. He was preceded in death by his father.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22nd at 11:00 am at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 107 East Main St., Torrington. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. There are no calling hours.
In honor of Jim’s life, the family asks that you consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org or Foothills VNA Hospice, 32 Union St., Winsted, CT 06098. Condolences may be sent to the Gagnon family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
