James Jesse Fairchild, Jr., 56, loving father, grandfather, and brother, passed away on September 20, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.
Jimmy was born on June 1, 1960, and raised in Thomaston, Connecticut. He was one of four children born to the late James J. and Josephine (D’Angelo) Fairchild. A 1979 graduate of Thomaston High School and the Morse School of Business, he was employed for a short time with the Thomaston Police Department. He went on to become part owner and operator of his family business, FairCrest Poultry. Jim retired in 2011 from Home Depot in Waterbury.
Jimmy is survived by two daughters: Taylor Fairchild of Holiday, FL, and Kara Desper and her husband, David, of St. Petersburg, FL., their mother, Donna Creaven of Holiday, FL, and his cherished granddaughter, Madison Desper. He also leaves his sister, Sandra Warner and her husband Roger Rogowski of Scottsdale, AZ, brothers: William and his wife Pat of Torrington, CT, and Joseph and his wife Traci, of Virginia Beach, VA. and an uncle, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was an avid gun enthusiast, and collected coins as well as many other trinkets. One of his favorite things to do was to go grocery shopping to look for things on sale. He enjoyed cooking meals for the family and going to the movie theater. He was a Jack-of-all trades and passed on his knowledge to anyone he could.
Jimmy’s character is defined by his unconditional love and support. With that came his undeniable humor which was sure to make anyone smile. His heart may have been weak, but it was bursting with love for his family and friends.
