Hugo S. Gerbi, 98, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Friday, October 29, 2021, at his home. He was the husband of the late Regina A. (Ceberek) Gerbi.
Hugo was born July 6, 1923, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Secondo and Caterina (Cumino) Gerbi. He was a WWII Veteran, serving at home in the U. S. Army. Hugo as President, and his late wife Regina, the bookkeeper, both owned and operated TV Lab, Inc. in Torrington. The company was founded in 1950 until its closing in 2018. He also was an Electronics Technician as he graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana. In addition, he owned and operated Gerbi Communications, a cell tower site on Highland Avenue in Torrington.
He enjoyed fishing, and was an avid New York Yankee and Boston Red Sox fan.
Hugo’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Wolcott Hall who cared for him, as well as Martin Adugah of Elder’s Choice, who cared for him at his home for the past seven years.
He is survived by two sons, Ken Gerbi and Paul Gerbi and his partner, Sue Wittenberg, all of Torrington.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Relatives and friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow and will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
