Hilda "Angie" Angelica (Guerrini) Cavagnero

Hilda Angelica (Angie) Cavagnero died on Monday, July 26, 2021, in Torrington CT. She was born Hilda Augustina Maria Guerrini in Forestville, CT on October 15, 1926.

She was the daughter of Evelina and Mosé Guerrini who came to the United States from the Tuscany region of Italy. She was predeceased by her older brothers, Herman James Guerrini and Fred George Guerrini, and her younger brother Moses Guerrini.

Angie graduated from Torrington High School in 1944 and worked at the Torrington Manufacturing Company (Torin). There she met a young combat veteran of WWII who became the head engineer of Torin, Erman Cavagnero. They were married in 1947.

They had four sons: David of White Plains NY, Paul of Torrington CT, Thomas of Reseda CA, and Mark of Mill Valley CA. They gave her six grandchildren, Jessica, Robert, Amanda, Jane, Matthew, and William Cavagnero. She also has two great-grandsons, Odin and Byrne Wohler of Larchmont, New York.

Angie loved music, dancing, and golf, having made two holes in one in her golfing career. She loved her friends and was an excellent cook and seamstress, making many of her own clothes. She was very artistic, refinishing furniture and decorating extensively. She gave back to the community as a volunteer at St. Peter School Library and Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother and a devout Catholic. Angie was a remarkable mother and woman. She had gift for making everyone she met feel better about themselves and want to become her friend.  She will be missed.

The Cavagnero family would like to thank the staff of Brandywine Living in Litchfield and Wolcott Hall Nursing Center in Torrington for the care and compassion given to Angie during the last few years of her life.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 2, 2021, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St. Torrington, CT 06790 for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.  Friends may call at Cook Funeral Home on Sunday, August 1, 2021, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Service Office, 140 Main St., Torrington, CT 06790.
