Helen Agnes (Skrabulis) Cracco, 91, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of Nivio Cracco for 66 years.
Helen was born February 4, 1926, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Stanley and Dora (Gasunas) Skrabulis. She was employed by Brunswick as a Silk Screen Operator until her retirement in 1989.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by Celine Cracco (Gordon Teubner)of Naples, Florida, Gerri Slowikowski ( George)of Harwinton, Michael Cracco (Robin) of Waterbury, Philip Cracco ( Roxanne) of Thomaston, as well as eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one niece. She is also survived by her “adopted” family Marilyn Howe, Caitlin Howe, and Whitney Lavigne.
Helen modeled what is the very best in the human spirit. She was kind, patient, and gentle as she accepted life as it was given to her without complaint. Grandma Helen loved her grandchildren above all and was forever nurturing, supportive, and non-judgmental. Our lives are all richer having had the good fortune of knowing and loving Helen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
