Guerina (Persechino) LaMonica, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late John LaMonica.
Guerina was born April 14, 1928, in Sant’Apollinare, Italy, daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Rossi) Persechino. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time cooking (especially her famous meatballs), gardening, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, and with her beloved cat, Reba.
She is survived by two daughters, Maria Summa (Bob) of New Hartford, CT, Nancy Renzullo (David) of Torrington, CT; one brother, Albert Persechino of Torrington; one sister, Attilia LaMonica of Torrington; four grandchildren, Daniella Summa, John Summa, Anthony Renzullo, Paul Renzullo, as well as nineteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Diamante, Peter and Fiore Persechino and one sister, Lilia Persechino.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.
