Gregory Kresel, 62, of Litchfield, Connecticut passed away, Tuesday, February 14, 2018, surrounded by love.
A celebration of life service will be held at Cook Funeral Home in Torrington CT on Tuesday the 20th of February from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
Greg was born February 3rd, 1956 to Francis and Walter Kresel. He worked many odd jobs throughout his years; from McDonald’s cashier, to laborer, to bartender, until eventually starting medical school in the Philippines. He graduated and earned his doctorate of medicine in 1984. Thus beginning a chapter of outstanding selflessness and charity. His large heart and compassion was recognized by his wife Magdalina Kresel, whom he married in 1986.
Greg spent his years of medical work as an emergency room physician at Bronx-Lebanon, Montifiore, Winsted, Sharon, Waterbury and Charlotte Hungerford Hospitals. Yet, he is also known for his work as an EMS coordinator, a medical examiner, and a radio talk-show host for medical advice.
Greg loved his work and only retired a year to his passing. His other hobbies included reading detective novels, studying history trivia, finding new jokes, hiking with his dog, and spending time with his family locally, in Maine or abroad.
Gregory is survived by his wife Magdalina; his brother Myles Kresel; and his four children, Matthew Kresel, Daniel Kresel, Camille Kresel, and Brandon Kresel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dirk Kresel, in 1972.
Greg was a warmhearted friend, an inspirational father, and a loving husband.
