Graziella Pesce

After 92 years, Graziella Pesce of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully on Saturday March 21, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of Mario Pesce for 60 years.  Grace was born on July 13, 1922 in Pontelandolfo, Benevento, Italy.  She was daughter of the late Giovanni and Antoniette (Albini) Pesce. After growing up on the family farm, Grace moved to America with her mother and father. Grace worked hard for thirty years at the Torrington Company as a needle inspector.  She is survived by her husband (Mario Pesce), one daughter (Maria Ponte) Maria’s husband (Antonio Ponte), three grandchildren (Daniela, Cristina, and Antonio), and several beloved nephews and nieces.

Whenever guests visited Nonni at her home on Barton Street, she always offered food and a drink.  As a chef she was rivaled by none, and her dishes were always complimented by fresh ingredients pulled from the garden.  Nonni enjoyed nothing more than spending warm summer days on her porch when she could watch the birds come in and out of the birdhouses.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, with the cortege leaving 11 am from the Cook Funeral Home (82 Litchfield Street, Torrington) to Saint Peter’s Church (107 East Main Street, Torrington).  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am, and a burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Cook Funeral Home.
