George Garala, 97, of Torrington, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, 2015.
George was born February 18, 1918, in Hamden CT, son of the late Frank Garala. He served in WWII, stationed in the pacific as a tank commander. He was employed by Met Life for many years.
He was an avid golfer and bowler, to many of his friends he was their “mentor and idol”. A man with a great sense of humor, he always had a story or joke to brighten up someone’s day. He will be missed by so many family and friends.
He was the widower of Dorothy (Dundero) Garala and is survived by his son Daniel Garala, grandsons Michael (Cheryle) Garala, Dan Garala, Jr.; great grandchildren, Caleb and Nathan Garala and his long time companion Pat Wacholz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.
