We are saddened by the loss of Gary, 67 years young, who was loved by so many. He lived in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania for many years but relocated to Longneck, Delaware last month. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in his new home.
Gary was a proud Marine who served in Groton, Connecticut in security services at the submarine base. In his younger years, Gary was a member of the Connecticut Vagabond’s Drum Corps and played in the soprano horn line. He was very active in the Corvette Club in Media, Pennsylvania which was close to his heart. Gary was an avid sports fan and his favorites were the Phillies, the Giants, the Flyers, and NASCAR and he loved watching his favorite driver, Martin Truex Jr. He also loved to bowl and was on bowling leagues for many years in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
He was recently retired from security services for the Philadelphia Phillies for twenty years (his heart job) and was still employed at home by the Globus Medical Company for many years as a biomedical engineer (his regular job.) He always had two.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Versari; his wife, Julia Versari; and his long-time partner, Susan Douthart. He is survived by his daughter Rachel “Tess” Brooke (Versari) Viel, whom he loved dearly and was very proud of, and a son-in-law, Matthew Viel. He also left behind three grandchildren: Alexandria Lee, Tanner Lee, and Tucker Lee. Gary had three siblings: Annette Jacquemin (Shoey), Kelly Versari, and Darrin Versari (Diane) and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter’s mother, Rosemarie Versari (Morris) and his sweetie, Annmarie Glatts. He also leaves his buddy/dog, Harry.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been setup by Rachel and the family respectfully requests that any donations be made to paypal.me/garyvmemorialfund. Your donations will be given to numerous organizations and charities in his name that he held close to his heart.
