Frederick “Fred” F. Lataif, 78, of Torrington, CT, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Clark) Lataif, who preceded him in death on August 31, 2013.

Fred was born October 18, 1936, in Winsted, CT, son of the late Frederick and Frances (Joseph) Lataif.  He served his country with the US Army.  He was employed by Hitchcock Chair Company making fine wooden furniture for many years.  After his retirement from Hitchcock Chair, he was employed by the Torrington Park and Recreation Department as a Supervisor at the Armory.  A member of Greenwoods Country Club for most of his life, he also served on the Board of Directors for many years.  He was a member of the Lebanon American Club, and was very active with St. Maron’s Church where he was a faithful volunteer with Bingo.

He is survived by one son, Fred G. Lataif and one daughter, Lori Richnavsky and her husband  Robert all of Torrington; one sister, Lorraine Meyer and her husband Bob of Torrington; two grandchildren, Robert Richnavsky and his wife Tori, Kristen Rizzi and her husband Tony; one great granddaughter, Eva Richnavsky, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends.  In addition to his wife, Carol, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott J. Lataif and a brother, Donald Lataif.

The Divine Liturgy of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 85 Pulaski St., Torrington.  Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.  Relatives and friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church.
