Francis A. “Frank” Romanczuk, 88, of Torrington, CT passed away peacefully at his home on June 24, 2021. Frank was born on July 11, 1932 in Torrington, CT to the late Francis R. and Stephanie V. (Kunkiewicz) (Romanczuk) Mobilia. Frank graduated from Torrington High School and soon after volunteered and enlisted in the United States Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he served in the Korean War as a heavy equipment instructor. Following his service, Frank was employed by CL&P and Northeast Utilities as a lead lineman and then foreman, until his retirement in 1994.
Frank is survived by his beloved children: Alison Carey and her husband Alex of Naugatuck, CT, Stephanie Romanczuk of Torrington, CT, one step-son, Daniel Fisher and his wife Laurie of Torrington, CT, and two step-daughters, Maria (Fisher) Wood and her husband Tom of Portsmouth, RI, and Kristina (Fisher) Keegan and husband Gil of West Hartford, CT. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Alexander (Abigail) Carey, Ariel Carey, Matthew Walukiewicz, Andrew (Angela) Fisher, Abigail Fisher, Olivia, Ruthie and Tommy Wood, and Teddy, William and Cole Keegan, and one great grandson, Carter Carey, all of whom he loved dearly. Frank also leaves one brother, Leonard (Dolores) Romanczuk, of Huntsville, AL, a niece and two nephews, and many dear friends. Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Angela (Frigo) Romanczuk, his second wife, Marietta (Scarpa) Romanczuk, and his loved daughter, Regina Romanczuk.
Frank loved to work with his hands, spending countless hours in his basement workshop and in the yard, and he was especially proud of building his own home, in which he lived for over 50 years. Frank’s greatest joy though was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandson, and they will forever remember the stories he loved to share about his younger years. Frank will surely be missed by everyone that knew him.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Frank’s special caregivers, Nancy and Hazel, for their love and care during his short illness and in his final days.
