Francis “Bud” Anthony Motuzick, Jr., 76, of Harwinton, CT, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 7, 2024.
Bud was born in Torrington, November 20, 1947, the oldest child of Francis and Dorothy Motuzick. He was a graduate of the class of 1966 at Lewis S. Mills High School.
He prided himself on being self-sufficient as shown through his gardens and yard where he cultivated over 100 fruit trees. His yard has often been referred to as a “park” due to its impeccable maintenance. His love of gardening was passed down from his mother. He enjoyed watching the wildlife in his yard, especially the birds that would take up residence in the bird houses he built.
A carpenter by trade, if you live in the area you may live in a home he either built or remodeled. He was very proud of his membership of more than 50 years as a union carpenter, Local 43 Hartford.
Bud was a generous man, he donated to the Harwinton Historical Society and made numerous crafts that he donated along with fruits and vegetables to raffles and fundraising sales at the Harwinton Library, Harwinton Fire Department, Charlotte Hungerford Auxiliary, local food bank, and other local causes. Bud was an avid baseball fan, especially cheering for the Mets. He was a faithful Catholic, and lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church. While not a mechanic, he enjoyed several classic cars and tractors especially his 73’ AMC Javelin.
In addition to his loving wife and best friend of 51 years, Stasia, he is survived by a son, Jozef Motuzick and wife Colleen. Bud was very proud of his son continuing in his union footsteps, IUEC Local 91. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia Sgrillo and husband John of Burlington, Rise Caron and husband Richard of Harwinton; brothers Michael Motuzick and wife Tracey, and Marc Motuzick and wife Donna of Torrington, as well as several nieces and nephews.
