Francis E. LeJeune, 93, of Granby, CT, entered the gates of Heaven on Friday, June 19, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Mecca) LeJeune for 64 years who pre-deceased him on September 19, 2013. Francis was born on May 28, 1927, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Emil and Jennie (Sileno) LeJeune. He served his country with the U.S. Navy in WWII. When he returned from duty, he was employed by John Hancock Life Insurance, working in this field in both Connecticut and California. During this time of his career, he visited with each and every family member he insured, travelling from one home to another in good weather and bad throughout northern Connecticut for over 30 years. He truly loved the warm interactions he had with his clients often over the family dinner table.
He always said that “family is everything” and he lived his life with that strong inner belief every day. He was loved by all of his family and friends and is survived by two sons, Robert LeJeune of Granby, CT and his wife Joyce LeJeune, Michael LeJeune of Eugene, OR and his wife Diane LeJeune, one brother, James LeJeune of Torrington, CT and his wife Pat LeJeune; six grandchildren, Derek LeJeune, Brandon LeJeune, Jon LeJeune, Marc LeJeune, Sara LeJeune and Nicole (LeJeune) Madsen and husband Kyle Madsen and three great grandchildren, Sean LeJeune, Ellie Madsen and Brynnly Madsen as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was blessed with a long and healthy life and went about his days quietly touching the hearts and brightening the lives of all who met him. He was a truly remarkable man and if measured by the kindness in his heart, a true giant of a man. He often yearned to see his Josephine once again and upon departing this world, we know he is with her.
Donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
