Francis A. Gallicchio, Jr. 58, of Torrington, CT, died Monday, February 18, 2019, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Fran was born April 22, 1960, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late Faye (DelMonte) and Francis “Red” Gallicchio, Sr. He along with his father, co-owned and operated Fran’s Supermarket and he was a butcher at the store. He had a passion for Martial Arts, and was Chief Instructor at Mahoney Martial Arts Academy. A sixth degree Black Belt, for 20 years he held the title as National Champion and was a highly respected judge at Martial Arts Competitions. He was a weapons expert, with a tough demeanor and a huge heart.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Christine Aloma and their beloved dog Sonny; four brothers, John Gallicchio (Shan) of Torrington, Richard Gallicchio of Torrington, Christopher Gallicchio (Lynn) of New Hampshire, Thomas Gallicchio (April) of Torrington; a sister, Jodi MacDonald and her love Joseph LaGanga, Jr. of Harwinton, one niece, two nephews, as well as lifelong friends, Bryan Mahoney and Paul Ganem who were like brothers to Fran. In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by a sister Sharon Clark.
Private funeral services have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.
