Frances A. (Beechinor) Staire

Frances Adele (Beechinor) Staire, 85, passed away on February 1, 2022.  She was the loving wife of Arnold W. Staire of Torrington, CT for 50 years.

Mrs. Staire was born on March 11, 1936, to the late Clifford P. and Frances A. (Woodward) Beechinor.  She was the great-great-great granddaughter of Dr. Samuel Woodward who settled in Torringford during the Revolutionary War. She attended St. Francis School and graduated with honors from  the Academy of the Holy Family in Baltic, CT.  Upon graduation she was employed by the First Federal Savings & Loan Association in Torrington for 38 ½ years, retiring as Asst. Treasurer.  She was employed as secretary/receptionist for Dr. Jerrold Finnie until his retirement in 2008.  She also worked part time for Grunder’s Farm Equipment. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church.  Her hobbies included crocheting, playing BINGO, and following the New York Yankees and UCONN basketball, especially the women’s team.  She also belonged to the Sullivan Senior Center.

In addition to her husband, Arnold, she is survived by a Goddaughter, Deneen Cardello; Godson and nephew Zachary Walter Staire, niece Amy Staire Fernandez, nephews Paul and Jayson Beechinor, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, one great great niece, several cousins, brother-in-law Thomas Wunch of Moore Haven, FL.  Brothers-in-law Clifford Staire (Cynthia), Peter Staire (Kathy). She was predeceased by her parents and sister, Evelyn Beechinor Wunsch, brother Clifford Paul Beechinor and nephew Michael Beechinor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 160 Main St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.  There are no calling hours.  Relatives and friends attending the Mass are requested to wear protective facemasks for Covid prevention protocol.
