Eunice (Seymour) Grohowski

Eunice Seymour Grohowski, of Torrington peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at age 95.

Eunice Seymour Grohowski was born On October 4, 1926, at the Winsted County Hospital.  The daughter of Edwin O. Seymour and Maude Francis Seymour.

Eunice a navy wife, was very proud of her military heritage.  She was the granddaughter of a Civil War Sergeant and had several ancestors fight in the American Revolution.

She was the widow of CPO Edward Grohowski.  As his wife she traveled to many assignments, including Argentina, Newfoundland, Norfolk, Virginia, Charleston, South Carolina and Barcelona Spain.

Eunice started her education at a one room schoolhouse in Torringford.  She graduated from Torrington High School in 1945 and graduated from the New Britain School of Nursing in 1948.  She worked in several hospitals in various ports and finished her career doing private duty in this area.

Eunice stayed true to her faith teaching Sunday School and doing missionary work in many of the ports the family was stationed.  Locally, she has been a member of the Torringford and United Congregational Church for over 70 years.  She has served on every board and has been President of the Women's Fellowship.  She was also Secretary and the President of Church Women United of Torrington.

Survived by daughter, Stasia Motuzick and her husband Bud, and their son Joe and his wife Colleen, sons, Tim Grohowski and his wife Deb, Matt Grohowski and his wife Agnes, and their two daughters, Charlotte and Kimberly and loving nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her two brothers Edwin Seymour, Jr. and Ralph Seymour.

The family would like to thank River Ridge at Avon for taking such good care of our mother for the last 9 years.

A memorial service will be held at the United Congregational Church in Torrington on April 9th at 10am, 1622 Torringford St., Torrington, CT.  A graveside service immediately following, adjacent to the Church.
