Eugene F. Zordan, 86, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Smith) Zordan for nearly 63 years.
Eugene was born December 25, 1931, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Eugenio and Erminia (Bollini) Zordan. Following his graduation from Torrington High School in 1949, he graduated with honors from the Chicago Technical School of Architectural Drafting and Design. He served his country with the US Army during the Korean War in the 42nd Engineering Construction Battalion. Among the awards and decorations he received at his Honorable Discharge during 1955 was the National Defense Service Medal. He owned Eugene Zordan and Son Plastering Company for over 40 years, a business established by his father in 1927 which he later turned over to his sons for the third generation. He was a member of UNICO for more than 25 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Eugene J. Zordan and his wife Marion of Burlington, CT, Michael F. Zordan and his wife Susan J. of New Hartford, CT; one sister, Marie Zordan of Torrington, CT; two granddaughters, Mikayla and Madelyn, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2018, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
