Ernest Francis Nardi, 94, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife E. Carole (Lincoln) Nardi in 2013 after 62 years of marriage.
Ernie was born on August 12, 1929, in Torrington, son of the late Tranquillo and Linda (Battistoni) Nardi. He was a meat cutter for Finest Supermarkets for 33 years before his retirement in 1993. His first job as a meat cutter was at his father’s Torrington west side market called Nardi’s Market. Ernie was a long-time member of the Torrington Elks Club and the Torrington Fish and Game Association. Ernie fondly remembered his time with the Highland Avenue Basketball team in his youth. He enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, playing golf and was an avid fan of the UConn women’s basketball team. He was fortunate to have been blessed with friends that enriched his life with companionship and laughter.
He is survived by his son, David Nardi and his wife Joanne of Torrington, his granddaughter Stephanie Nardi-Cyrus, her husband Nate, and Ernie’s great grandsons of Harwinton. He is also survived by his son Bruce Nardi and his wife Julie of Torrington and his brother Bruno Nardi of Summerfield, Florida, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Lillian Arel of Torrington. He was considered a family member of his daughter-in-law Joanne’s family.
The family would like to especially thank the staff of The Cottage at Litchfield Hills who were especially supportive and caring to Ernie over the last two years.
