Elyse Marie Paige (née Murelli) died in her home in Winchester, CT on April 1, 2015 due to complications following a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was 66. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Mrs. Paige was born on November 7, 1948 in Torrington, CT to her parents, Peter and Mary (Cimelli) Murelli. She graduated from Torrington High School in 1966. She married Anthony J. Paige, Jr. in 1969. The Paiges resided in Torrington and later Winchester, where Anthony worked as a police officer. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker and mother, Elyse worked for Tormanco Credit Union for twenty years. She retired in 1996 and dedicated much of her remaining time to caring for her grandchildren, as well as being an active participant in her church community.
Elyse was a model of kindness, service and dedication to her family. She was a lifelong member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church and volunteered her time to serve the parish in many capacities. Mrs. Paige sang for the church choir, served as a Eucharistic Minister, taught catechism lessons to young students and served as Parish Council President. Inspiring faith and service in others was her life-long goal.
Mrs. Paige is survived by her husband of 46 years, Anthony Paige; her son, Mark Paige of Torrington; her father, Peter Murelli of Torrington; her brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Nancy Murelli of Burlington; her sister, Linda Murelli of Torrington and former brother-in-law, David Martin of Winsted; her beloved grandchildren, Alisha and Joshua Paige and their mother, Cherie Saucier Paige as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Murelli.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mrs. Paige’s life. Burial will be held in the spring in Winchester Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
