Elaine R. (DeDominicis) Saporite

Elaine R. (DeDominicis) Saporite, 87, of Sunny Lane, Torrington, died Thursday, April 16, 2015 after a heart attack. She had just completed a round of golf with her daughter Carolyn and son-in-law Bob in Lake Forest, California.

She was the wife of the late Rudolph J. Saporite. Elaine was born December 16, 1927 in the family home on Clarence Street. She was the youngest of nine children born to Antonio DeDominicis and Giaela (Inforzato) DeDominicis.

Elaine graduated from Torrington High School in 1944 and went to work for the U.S. Enlistment Office in Washington, D.C.  She then graduated from the Mandl School for Medical Assistants in 1947. That same year, she married Rudy. Elaine worked in medical offices for the next 40 years including for Doctors Smith, Buckley, and Walker and for Torrington Radiology. She and Rudy retired to Florida and then California. After Rudy’s passing she returned to Torrington and worked in the Office of Cardiovascular Medicine Associates until she was 80.

She was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Church. She enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. Elaine’s housekeeping skills were legendary.

Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Rudolph J. Saporite (1997) and son, Rudolph J. Saporite Jr. (2009).  She was also predeceased by eight siblings: Mary DeAngelis, Tranquil DeDominicis, Alice Bronzi, Rose DiPippo, Willie DeDominicis, Annette Gura, Nancy Garnsey, and Edith Manack. She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law: Valerie and David Hutchinson of Torrington, Carolyn and Robert Signorile of San Clemente, California, Joan and Michael Nickerson of Meriden, Connecticut, Christine and Joseph Melchione of Manhasset, New York, and daughter-in-law Michelle Saporite of Hopewell Junction, New York. She also leaves 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church,107 East Main St. Torrington with burial following in St. Peter Cemetery.  Friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St. Torrington.
