Edna D. (Grunder) Russo

Edna D. (Grunder) Russo, 83, a lifelong resident of Torrington, CT, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Anthony R. Russo, Sr. for 47 years.

Edna was born April 2, 1932, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Emil and Matilda (Leifert) Grunder.  She was employed by the Torrington Company, retiring in 1997 after 33 years of service. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and was known for her prolific knitting and crocheting. Many relatives and friends, especially children, enjoy the warmth and comfort of her craft.

Edna's greatest love was for her family. She is survived by four children, Joanne (Chuck) Laus, Jane (Wayne) Yurgalevicz, Anthony (Nancy) Russo, Jr., Donna (Archie) Bardwell; grandchildren, Heidi and Rebecca Laus, Chuck (Karen) Laus, Amy (Craig) Goldberg, Scott (Angela) Yurgalevicz, Mackenzie and Trevor Russo, Jessica and Sara Bardwell, Allison Bardwell; great grandchildren, Samuel and Daniel Laus, Serena Goldberg, and Baby Y (due in October); a brother, John (Betty) Grunder; and very special nieces, Jeannette and Robyn Macsata.

The Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 , with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington, CT for services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
