Edith (Eyre) Sochon

Edith (Eyre) Sochon, 90, of Harwinton, CT, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Valerie Manor.  She was the wife of the late William J. Sochon.

Edith was born April 21, 1932, in Waterbury, CT, and was raised in Hotchkissville, she was the daughter of the late Alfred G. and Grace (Foulk) Eyre.  Upon graduating from Post Secretarial School she was employed as a medical secretary, and later by American Brass as a secretary before she was employed by George H. Christian and Company as a secretary for many years.

She enjoyed gardening and was a self-taught artist using oil paints and acrylics.  At the age of 50, she enrolled in wood carving classes for signs, and then later carved figurines right up until the time of her death.  She was an avid NASCAR and UConn Women’s Basketball fan.

She is survived by two sons, Lee Sochon (Susan), Dan Sochon (Traci) both of Torrington, CT; one daughter Susan Persechino (Marc) of Torrington, CT; four grandsons, Jason and Aaron Persechino, Mathew and Vincent Sochon, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by one son, Peter J. Sochon and three brothers, Alfred, Stanley, and Harry Eyre.
