Earl R. Gauthier

Earl R. Gauthier, 78, of Harwinton, CT, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.  He joins his two sons, Bruce and Brent, and three brothers and two sisters who predeceased him.  He was the beloved husband of Betty (Parks) Gauthier for 57 years.

Earl was born in Winchendon, MA, to Peter and Alexina (Strong) Gauthier on April 12, 1936.  Earl had the nickname “Goke” during his high school years and throughout his 20 year Air Force career, retiring from security service, 1954 – 1974.  Then moving to Harwinton in 1974, he began a career in drilling and blasting, retiring from that at the age of 72.

He was an avid golfer and ballplayer, both in high school and the Air Force, and when he retired, played with several local ball teams.  He was a faithful Red Sox and Patriots fan.

He is survived by his wife  Betty, and children Wendy Gauthier (Keith), Christy Boulay , Robin Reid (Jay) and four grandchildren, Ashley Boulay, Amanda Boulay, Paige Reid, Jenna Trudi Gauthier, and two great grandchildren, Sharon Boulay and Robert Boulay.  He is also survived by a brother, Roger Gauthier of MA and several nieces and nephews.

Per Earl's request, there will be no calling hours.  He is to be cremated and a private Military funeral will be held at East Cemetery in Harwinton, in the spring.  Contributions in his memory can be made to The Harwinton Ambulance, Burlington Road, Harwinton, CT 06791.
