Dorothy (Baird) Williams-Dallas, 87, of Winsted, CT, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, surrounded in love. She was the wife of the late Alvin J. Dallas, her second husband who she was married to for almost 30 years. Prior to that she was married to Philip A. Williams for almost 25 years before cancer took his life.
Dorothy was born on September 5, 1937, in Barton, VT, the daughter of the late Ray Leland and Mary Louise (Bean) Baird. She was the oldest of 10 children. She was a wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She worked as a domestic worker, in manufacturing and retired as a Nurses Aid. Over the years she was involved with voluntary fire company auxiliaries and the Women of the Moose organization in Hudson NY. She also participated in TOPS in CT and NY and the Antique Fire Company in CT. For her children, she was involved with the Boy Scouts and 4-H. She loved camping and RV adventures. Her favorite past time was playing games or cards with her loved ones. She made us all laugh a lot during these games and played late into the night, even at 86 years old.
She is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Gabreille (Rickie) Athens NY, Sheila Stoddard (Gerald) Winsted CT; two sons, Alfred Williams (Terri) Coxsackie NY, Ray Williams (Lori) Athens NY; Step-son Philip Dallas (Lisa), Jacksonville NC ; Step-daughters Irene Acker, Margaret Dallas, Elva Gleason all of NY. Thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren. Five surviving brothers, Howard Baird, Ernest Baird, Clement Baird, Carl Baird, Clinton Baird; two surving sisters, Ruby Barney, Mary Tomlinson, sister-in laws and brother in-laws as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her husbands, and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Philip A. Williams, Jr., brothers, Rupert Baird and Theodore Baird.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
