It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Dorothy (Mego) Marchi, 97, on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Born March 20, 1926, to the late Matteo and Rose (Tricarico) Mego, Dorothy grew up in Bristol and moved to Winsted after she met and married her husband Frank Marchi. They had been married for 54 years at the time of his passing. She was employed by Union Pin as a machinist until her retirement. She volunteered at the Winsted Thrift Shop, was a member of the Italian American Women’s Club, and a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church.
Dorothy enjoyed knitting, going to the casino and spending time with her grandchildren. She couldn’t wait for Wednesdays to come around to see her friend Sue, who would take her out to lunch, or just ride around.
She is survived by four daughters, Carol Lambert of East Hartland, CT, Gloria Marchi of Winsted, CT, Rosemarie LaRosa and her husband Mike of Melbourne, FL, Sandra Jasch of Spring Hills, FL; eight grandchildren , six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, Jean Hugel who she loved as her own daughter and Carmen Bazzano, the son who she never had. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Mego and one sister Rachel Egidi.
Her family would like to thank hospice for their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Winsted.
