David Royer

David Royer, 90, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, at Regal Care.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda (Cellini) Royer.

David was born August 1, 1931, in Waterbury, CT, the son of the late David and Jennie (Barnowski) Royer.  He served his country with the US Navy on board the USS Hornet.  He was employed by the Torrington Company as a setup Technician until his retirement.  David was a part-time school bus driver for 27 years with City Bus Lines.  He was also a dedicated blood donor for many years, donating close to 20 gallons in his lifetime.

David is survived by a son, Mark Royer and his wife Ella of Dover Plains, NY; a daughter, Celine Zimmermann and her husband Anthony “Tony” of Easthampton, MA; one brother, Wayne Royer of Torrington, CT; four sisters, Beverly Riiska of Winsted, CT, Roberta Pollack of Winsted, CT, Kathleen Schwartz of Arizona; Maryann Stone of Winsted, CT; five grandchildren, Alicia Zimmermann, Rebecca Zimmermann, Courtnie Greenleese and her husband Robert, Colbie Royer, Connyr Royer, as well as two great grandchildren, Levi and Ava.

David's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Regal Care for their care and compassion showed to him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.  Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded.  Relatives and friends may call on Saturday morning from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 10:00 a.m.  Relatives and friends attending calling hours and the funeral service are requested to wear a protective facemask while inside the funeral home. Do to the recent increase of infection of the COVID pandemic, a celebration of David's life will be held in the spring or summer of 2022.
