David A. Meyer, 74, of Harwinton, passed away at his home Saturday night,  August 19, 2017, surrounded by his loving family after spending the day with them at Tyler Lake.  He was the beloved husband of Marie-Luise (Bauschke) Meyer.

David was born April 6, 1943, in Torrington, CT, the son of Raymond and Florence (Torsiello) Meyer. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1964 for 4 years. He was stationed in Germany where he took every opportunity to travel European countries. During his last year of service he married his wife of 49 years. He was a teacher for 27 years, until his retirement from Oliver Wolcott Technical School.  He was a member of the Torrington Elk’s Lodge #372.  He was also an avid golfer and a former member of the Torrington Country Club.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren at Tyler Lake sharing his passion of fishing.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Stephanie Ziter (Scott) of Ballston Lake, NY; two sisters, Kathe Skibisky of Torrington, Christine Colligan of Poughkeepsie, NY; two grandchildren Sophie and Sam Ziter, as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Kristen Meyer.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Thomas Church, 71 North Main St., Goshen, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.  Calling hours will be held on Monday, August 21, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
