Dale N. Schaffer

Dale N. Schaffer, 71, of New Hartford, passed away on January 10, 2016, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Born on February 19, 1944 in Quakertown, PA, he was the son of the late Arnold M. and Mary (Afflebach) Schaffer.

Dale was self-employed as a contractor. Survivors include: two sons, Eric Schaffer of Torrington, and Matthew Schaffer and his spouse, Kelly, of Bristol, CT; two brothers, David Schaffer of Winsted and Donald Schaffer and his spouse, Suzanne, of Arlington, VT; a sister, Bertha Schaffer of Bridgewater, NJ ; his former wife and friend, Reverend Barbara Schaffer of Shelton, CT; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 21 Fern Drive, Torrington, CT 06790. Calling hours will take place on Friday, January 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St. Torrington, CT 06790. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, UM Army Fund, 21 Fern Drive, Torrington, CT 06790.
