Claire M. Ferrarotti, a beloved member of the Harwinton community, passed away on February 7, 2025, at UConn Medical Center. Born on April 11, 1943, in Torrington, Connecticut, Claire lived a vibrant life dedicated to her family, friends, and community. She was the wife of the late William "Bill" Ferrarotti and was daughter of the late Thomas and Priscilla (Zavatkay) O'Brien. She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment to her family, including her sons: Timothy Ferrarotti and his wife Susan of New Hartford, CT; Terrance Ferrarotti and his wife Tina of Harwinton, CT; and Kevin Ferrarotti and his wife Morgan of Rocky Hill, CT, her daughters, Suzanne Smith and her husband Brian of Harwinton, CT, and Kristen Harmon and her husband Thomas of Torrington, CT, and her brother Frederick O'Brien of Farmington, CT. Claire was a devoted grandmother to her eleven grandchildren: Brian, Adam, and Christopher Ferrarotti; Matthew and Kayleigh Smith; Marie and Patrick Ferrarotti; Samantha and Addison Ferrarotti, Caitlyn and Tasha Harmon, with whom she shared countless proud and joyous moments.
A woman of many talents and interests, Claire was not only an avid fan of UConn Basketball, but she also looked forward to many family trips to Disney World, where the happiness of the resort brought her immense joy. Her artistic spirit shone through with her quilting, making her a valued member of the Hearthside Quilting Club. In addition, Claire dedicated her time to the Bronc Callahan Community Fund, Inc. and contributed actively to the Harwinton Fire Department Auxiliary.
In recognition of her service and commitment to the community, Claire was honored with the 2014 Bronc Callahan Outstanding Citizen Award for Harwinton, a testament to her enduring spirit and impact on those around her.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, (Our Lady of Hope Parish), 78 Litchfield St., Harwinton, CT. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Little Guild of St. Francis (littleguild.org) or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org)
