Christopher T. Pepler, 43, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Lori (Bevivino) Pepler for eighteen years and father and best friend of Nathan Pepler.
Chris was born January 6, 1974, in Torrington, CT, son of Robert and Priscilla (Ratigan) Pepler of Torrington. In addition, he is survived his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Patricia Bevivino, as well as Peter and Sarah Bevivino of Harwinton, CT and Cynthia (Bevivino) and John Quealy of Winchester, MA, who were the sisters and brothers he'd always wanted. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Emily, William, and Samuel Bevivino, and Matthew, Aidan, and Anna Quealy, with whom he served as chief instigator and fun uncle. He is also survived by his best friend since childhood and fellow firefighter, Jason Emery, as well as his family of firefighters, and many friends.
He was Deputy Chief for the City of Torrington Fire Department since 2013 and has served the department since 1999. He was Assistant Director of Training for the Wolcott Regional Fire School and a partner with Emergency Training Solutions, and was fortunate to travel extensively to teach classes in many aspects of firefighting. He had a passion for training and touched many lives, elevating the level of service provided by fire departments in Connecticut and across the country.
Chris was a member of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors and Torrington Elks Lodge #372.
The family extends special thanks to Doctor Debra Brandt and her staff at Torrington -Smilow Cancer Center for their tireless care and advocacy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, CT 06791. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
