Celestina Anna (Orsi) Andrews of Torrington, CT, age 101, went to her eternal rest on January 23, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Frederick Arthur Andrews.
Born in Winsted on August 17, 1918, Celestina was the daughter of the late Diego Orsi and Jennie (Carrozzo) Orsi. A resident of Torrington since age 5, she was employed by Fitzgerald Manufacturing Co., Torrington Standard Plant and Scarpelli’s Restaurant.
Celestina is survived her son Dennis E. Andrews Sr. (Bonnie) of Torrington, daughter Jennie Jankowski (Martin) of Mount Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Dennis E. Andrews, Jr. (Kelly) of Torrington, Jason Andrews (Kelly) of Torrington and Sarah Andrews of Broad Brook, Joseph Scarpelli of Florida, Christopher Scarpelli of Florida, and Anita Dickens (Martin) of Tennessee, as well as three step grandchildren, Gregory Kochiss (Summer) of Colorado, Shelley Manion (David) of Torrington, and Jeffrey Kochiss (Michelle) of Cheshire. She is also survived by 17 great grandchildren: Brittany, Ryan, Emily and Amber Andrews, Tyler Ouellette, Nicholas, Aaron, and Evyn Scarpelli, Travis, Cole and Drew Jacquemin, Easton Kochiss and Bradley McAninch, Shyan Young (Keith), Dylan Heller, Anna and Griffin Kochiss.
In addition, she was predeceased by a son, Frederick Joseph Andrews, brothers Nicholas Orsi, Michael Orsi, Joseph Orsi, and Remego DeMasi, two sisters, Mary Sisko, and Jean Sabotka. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Celestina was a member of St. Peter Church, Saint Francis Mother Cabrini Society, Dante Alighieri Ladies Society, and Anita Garibaldi Society # 1202.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St, Torrington. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 31st from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St. Torrington.
In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations to St. John Paul the Great Parish or St. John Paul the Great Academy, 160 Main Street, Torrington or “Valerie Manor Resident Council Fund,” in memory of Celestina Andrews, Attn: Tracy Hoskins, 1360 Torringford St., Torrington, CT 06790.
