Catherine "Kitty" (Mele) Pagiusco

Catherine “Kitty” F. Pagiusco, 94, of Torrington, CT, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2016, at Litchfield Woods.  She was the wife of the late Alfred “Pugie” S. Pagiusco.

Kitty was born April 1, 1922, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Samuel and Grace (Basso) Mele.  She was employed by Howards in Sales until her retirement.  She was a founding mother of the Torringford Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, a volunteer at Lourdes Shrine and at the CHH Gift Shop and a member of the St. Peter Holy Rosary Society.  An avid puzzle solver, especially with find-a-words and scrabble, she also enjoyed working in her flower gardens and traveling to Alaska to visit with her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Woodruff of Anchorage, AK, Sherry Whitlock of Torrington; one brother Samuel Mele, Jr. of TX; one granddaughter, Chelsea Galloway and her husband Tim of Anchorage, AK, two great grandchildren, Paige and Timmy Galloway, as well as several nieces, nephews, and her grand dog Sammy.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Gary Pagiusco and a brother, Carmine Mele.

Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, June 23, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to commence at 11:00 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.  Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
