Carol Ann Weber, 81, of Torrington, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 2, 2025. Carol was born in Torrington on January 10, 1943 to the late Joseph and Grace Milanese. She was blessed to grow up with 8 siblings in their humble home on View St where there was never a dull or quiet moment! Carol adored her 5 brothers and was very close with her 3 sisters. Over the years they could laugh for hours reminiscing about their childhood. Carol's favorite pastime was dancing to the 50's music and listening to Elvis Presley. She graduated from THS in 1961 and later took a position at the Aetna Insurance Agency in Hartford. Despite her quiet nature, Carol was truly a social being and developed quick friendships in any setting. She married her husband, Lawrence Weber in 1967. They built their home and raised their family on Chestnut Hill Rd. It was there she met her neighbor Marilyn who would become her life long friend and confidant. Carol loved bike riding with her kids and playing 9/5 on Saturday nights with her sister Janice and brother in law JImmy. She discovered she had quite a talent for arts and crafts and became quite an impressive painter, specializing in oils and watercolors. She also designed wooden creations that her husband Larry would build for her to paint.
Carol's greatest achievement was the special loving way she raised her children. She taught them to rise above cruelty with grace and class. She was extremely proud of her son, Michael and took any opportunity to see him after his move to California. She flew out to San Francisco to surprise him on his 40th birthday and she drove up to Canada to experience Montreal with him and his wife, Mirelle. Carol had a special bond with her daughter, Chrissy. There was nothing she wouldn't do for her including waiting in line for hours with quite a colorful cast of characters to surprise her with Guns n' Roses tickets. When Chrissy had postpartum depression Carol went to her house from sun up to sun down to comfort her and help her with her babies. And in turn, when Carol struggled with stress related illnesses over the years Chrissy was by her side, comforting her with love and laughter.
Carol's favorite role was that as a grandmother. Her time spent with her granddaughters totally revitalized and inspired her. She spoiled them with her meatballs and lasagna and trips to Maxamia's restaurant. She introduced them to her favorite musicians and would grab tickets at a moments notice to take them to see acts like Taylor Swift, Michael Buble and Paul McCartney.
Perhaps Carol's greatest quality was her ability to laugh at herself. She was known to take embarrassing falls in public. Once while at a concert with her sister Cammy, she took the most ungraceful flop in front of a huge crowd. She'd inspire fits of laughter before she could even get on her feet. Another habit of hers was putting on jeans that still had pantyhose stuck inside them. She wouldn't realize it until she was dragging them far behind the bottom of her jeans in the grocery store. She also had a special knack for hopping into the wrong vehicle when out shopping. Once she spent minutes talking to a very confused husband in the car before realizing it wasn't her own!
In her later years Carol became her husband's full time care taker. She stood by him, loved him and forgave him come what may. She also found inner peace and enlightenment practicing meditation and Reiki and reading the works of Dr Wayne Dyer and Eckhart Tolle.
Carol found something special in everyone she knew and had the ability to reflect that back to them. She was always led by love and kindness and all of her friends and relatives were fortunate to experience this. In times of darkness she brought light, in times of conflict she brought understanding and forgiveness. She will be greatly missed by all.
Carol is survived by her son Michael Weber (Mirelle) of San Francisco Ca, a daughter Christine Godenzi and granddaughters Lydia and Liesel Godenzi of Torrington, brothers Robert (Patti) Milanese of Deltona, Fl, Ronald Milanese of St Petersburg, Fl, Joseph Milanese of Bradenton, FL and John Milanese (Peggy) of Avon, Ct, sisters Janice Montefeltri of Torrington and Cammy Wagner (Ralph) of Smyrna, Ga. She was predeceased by a brother William Milanese and sister Donna Milanese.
There will be no services at this time. Family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. They would like to thank the truly beautiful staff of Brandywine Living in Litchfield who took excellent care of Carol for her last 3 1/2 years. They loved her and treated her with respect and tenderness. In lieu of flowers the family suggests making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association in Carol's name.
