Carol W. Pathe, 81, of Revere St., died in her sleep on December 13, 2024, after a very long illness. She had been under hospice care for well over a year. She was born June,19, 1943 in Maryland to the late Chester and Olga Davis. Carol was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After Carol’s honorable military service, she went on as a legal secretary for the Wall, Wall & Frauenhofer Law Firm, The WIC program and many years at the Big Y store in Torrington.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Pathe, as well as her children: Scott Saltmarsh and his wife Deborah and granddaughter Savannah of Coxs Creek, Kentucky and Mark Pathe of Winchester Ct and sister Janet Jacklin of Torrington, CT
Reverend Parker Prout, of the United Methodist Church of Litchfield and Bantam, will lead us in prayer at Carol’s gravesite on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. There will be no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group (TAPSG). Cook Funeral Home has care of the arrangements.
She was a participating member in many local organizations, including the Torrington American Legion Post 38, of which she was the first female Commander. Before Carol became commander of post 38 it had been a dormant post and the state was about to pull its charter. She was able to reorganize the post bring it back to active status and triple its membership.
Carol and her friend Marion Muschell where co-founders of the Torrington Area Parkinson’s Support Group (TAPSG). A very active organization which has helped many individuals in the area that are suffering with the disease, and raised a considerable amount of money for research to combat Parkinson.
Carol served on the Torrington recreational trail committee for many years and which was instrumental in building the first multi-use trail in Torrington along old rt 8 which is used daily by many.
While Commander of Torrington American Legion post 38 she started the “Veterans Voice” TV show with the then Commander of post 44, of which she was the first co-host and producer. The show is still running today.
She was active for many years on the committee for the “Tour De Torrington” the “Torrington Donors Road Race” the “Litchfield area Aids project” and other committees and projects.
Carol was many things a sweet and caring person that was always trying to do what was best for others. Noted for her gardening and plant growing ability. Someone would give Carol a dead stick and within weeks she would have it blooming. Over the years hundreds of her plants have been given away as tokens of appreciation.
