Carol R. Amenta, 67, of New Hartford, passed away on August 13, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Canaan on November 16, 1947, she was the daughter of Mary (Cacomo) Riva of Canaaan, CT, and of the late Frank Riva. She was the beloved wife of Paul Amenta for 47years.
Carol was employed as a teller at Northwest Community Bank. She was a member of the New Hartford Lions Club and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Winsted. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and, especially, spending time with her family.
Besides her mother and her husband, Carol is survived by two sons, James Amenta and his wife Michelle of Berlin, CT, and Brian Amenta and his wife Deborah of Torrington; her sisters, Linda March of Canaan, CT and Cathy Blanchette of Marco Island, FL, her beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, and Peter, and several nieces, nephews as well as many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 31 Oak St., Winsted, CT. Friends are asked to meet directly at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Cemetery Road, North Canaan, CT. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT 06790.
