Carmella A. (Carbone) Marino, 89, of Torrington, CT, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
Carmella was born May 26, 1930, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Michael and Donata (Galgano) Carbone. She co-owned and operated Marino’s Restaurant in Torrington, CT until 1983. Along with cooking and baking, she enjoyed writing calligraphy, drawing cartoon characters, painting with watercolors & acrylic paints. In her younger years, she played soft ball, enjoyed the beach, and loved to dance to swing music. Later in life she enjoyed watching the New York Yankee baseball games as well as the UCONN women’s basketball games. Carmella enjoyed socializing & having a fun time especially with patrons, she had a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Time spent with her family creating memories was what brought her most joy.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Marino and son Christian Marino and his wife Pamela of Torrington; two grandchildren, Jake and Tatum Marino and two nephews, Gary Giordano and Joseph Giordano.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020, with the cortege leaving at 9:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Mausoleum. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
