Carmelina (Bruno) Pace

June 18, 1926 — May 26, 2016

Carmelina (Bruno) Pace, 89 of Avon, CT, formerly of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the loving wife of Andrew Pace for 59 years.

Carmelina was born on June 18, 1926 in Torrington, CT to the late Frank and Elena (Leone) Bruno.  Although she lived most of her life in Torrington, she also spent some of her youth living in Sicily and New York.  After graduating from Danbury State Teachers College in 1947 she taught for many years at Southwest School.  Once married, Carm spent the next part of her life doing what she loved most, being a mother. She was an avid reader and was involved in clubs and activities that allowed her to enjoy time with her friends. After her children were grown, Carm went back to teaching at St. Peter School before retiring in 1987. She was a communicant of St. Peter Church, St. Mary Star of the Sea and a former member of the St. Peter Parish Council.

Above all, Carm's life centered around her family and what she loved most was spending time with all of them, especially her seven grandchildren.  In addition to her husband and grandchildren, she leaves behind her children, Drew Pace and his wife Sue of Hingham, MA, David Pace and his wife Tracy of Hingham, MA, Tammy Fucci and her husband Guy of Old Saybrook, CT and Karen Kane and her husband Don of West Hartford, CT ; her grandchildren, Jen, Mike and Olivia Pace, Alex and Samantha Fucci, Nicholas and Jack Kane, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her two brothers, Joseph and Russell Bruno.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Mausoleum.  Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
