Carlo J. Maniccia, 92, of Torrington, CT, passed away Friday, March 18, 2016, at his residence with his wife and his niece Donna Rogala by his side. He was the husband of Norma (Tiramani) Maniccia for 55 years.
Carlo was born May 23,1923, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Leo and Jennie (DiCicco) Maniccia. He served his country with the US Army during World War II, Battle of the Bulge, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. Among the awards and decorations that he received upon his honorable discharge were the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, the American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He was employed by Torin for 32 years until his retirement. An avid wrestling fan, he also enjoyed tending to his vegetable and flower gardens. He loved his family, especially looking after his many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his wife, his godchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews David and Seth Lamanna as well as many cousins.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one brother, Armand Maniccia of Torrington; five sisters, Mary Torneo of Bristol, Josephine Caleone and her husband George of Bristol, Anna Maniccia and Frances Maniccia both of Torrington, Elda Rosenbeck and her husband John of Harwinton, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Angelo Maniccia, Mario and his wife Dorothy Maniccia, one sister, Victoria Maniccia, and one sister-in-law Romilda Maniccia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, with the cortege leaving at 12:00 noon from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
