Byron James Gardiner

Byron James Gardiner, II, 73, of Torrington, CT, passed away June 30, 2023, at his home..  He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Turner) Gardiner. and beloved step-father of Kathryn Burger.

Byron was born December 13, 1949, in New York City, the son of the late Allen and Frances Harriet (Tyler) Gardiner.  He was a graduate of Ridgewood High School in Ridgewood, NJ and of University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education. He was an avid photographer, a woodworker by trade, and a Newfoundland dog lover.

In addition to his wife Sandra and stepdaughter Kathryn, he is survived by his brother Thomas Gardiner, sister-in-law, Anne Marie Gardiner, and their son Matthew of Northvale, NJ. He is also survived by his brother Douglas Gardiner of Cape Coral, FL, widower of sister-in-law Judy, and their children Kimberly and Katy Rose.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT.   Private burial will be in the Gardiner ancestral plot at Stonington Cemetery in Stonington, CT.
