Beatrice (Bardin) Lomento

July 15, 1917 — April 28, 2018

Beatrice (Bardin) Lomento, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at her home surrounded by her family.

Beatrice was born on July 15, 1917 in Harwinton, daughter of Yvonne (Pepin) and George B. Bardin.

Beatrice was dedicated to her family.  Even into her very last years, she was actively engaged in the lives of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.   A talented baker and an accomplished seamstress, she shared her love with family and friends through her famous cakes, pies and cookies and in sewing beautiful outfits for herself and all of the girls in the family. She completed one last dress just three weeks ago.

Beatrice was active in the community and, when her children were young, devoted many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Brownie Troop Leader, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and PTA President.  Later in life, she was a dedicated member of The Degree of Pocahontas spending countless hours raising money in support of local non-profit organizations and serving two terms as president of the state organization.

She had an incredible quiet strength which left all who knew her feeling loved, safe, respected and supported.  She was, in turn, much loved and will be forever missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by two daughters, Jo-Ann Waselik and husband Robert of Torrington and Carolyn Amadon and husband Dean of West Hartford; four grandchildren: Cathy Lomento Binkowski and husband Richard of Goshen, Sarah Waselik Hayward and husband Trevor of Vancouver, Washington, Emily Waselik Wilson and husband Marc of San Diego, California, and Dr. Samuel Amadon and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Countryman of Columbia, South Carolina; and six great-grandchildren; Justin Binkowski, Jessica Binkowski, Charlotte Hayward, Henry Hayward, Olive Amadon and Frances Beatrice Amadon. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law Therese Lomento of Litchfield, sister-in-law Joan Bardin, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Leonard Thomas Lomento and by her cherished son, Robert Lomento.  She was also predeceased by her brothers Louis Bardin and George Bardin and by her sister Gladys Guerard.
