August “Jock” T. Giacopini, 87, of Torrington, CT, peacefully passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at his residence with his wife by his side. He was the beloved husband of Stacia (Dziekan) Giacopini for 63 years.
Jock was born September 16, 1932, in Torrington, CT, the son of the late August and Mary (Gemignani) Giacopini. He served his country with the U.S. Army. Upon the awards and decorations he received upon his honorable discharge in 1955 were the German Occupational Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was a Tool and Die Maker by trade and was employed by New Departure until his retirement. He was a member of the Elk’s Lodge, and a communicant of St. Peter Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his Godchildren, Jimmy Sequin of Maryland, Diane Nielsen of Middletown, CT, Doreen Giacopini of California, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Umbert Giacopini, two sisters, Elsie Sequin, Elaine Giacopini, and one Godson, Thomas Sequin.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
