He served in the Merchant Marines in the South Pacific Theater during World War II. A meat cutter by trade, Attilio worked in area butcher shops and retired from Stop and Shop in 1981 after 37 years. Upon retirement, Attilio remained active, teaching meat cutting at Housatonic Valley High School, working on small engine machines at Grunders, and most recently, a bus driver for Northwest Transit from July 30, 2003 until 2015. Attilio was instrumental in the planning and organizing of the yearly “Stuff a Bus.”

Attilio had many talents. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved cutting wood and wood working, but a great passion of Tillio’s was music. He formed a local band, The Twilights, playing clubs and functions throughout Litchfield County for over 60 years. Over 25 years ago, he and fellow musicians established a volunteer music group called the Tunedusters, providing Wednesday afternoon entertainment at the Sullivan Senior Center. Up until April of this year, the current group Tillio’s Allstars, still performed for line dancers and music lovers of all ages.
