Arlene Ann (Castelli) Paniati

Arlene Ann (Castelli) Paniati, formerly of Harwinton, CT and of Newington, CT, peacefully entered into eternal life on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA.  She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur C. Paniati, who preceded her in death on December 6, 2005.

Arlene was born February 19, 1933, in Torrington, CT, daughter of the late Vincent and Rose (Mella) Castelli.  A resident of Harwinton in her early years she was employed as a Manager by Bradlees in Torrington.  She retired from Bradlees in order to devote her time to caring for her many family members and with her husband, moved to Newington.  Later in her life, she was employed by the Town of Newington as a school crossing guard for over 15 years.

She is survived by one sister, Dolores Fugedi and her husband Louis of Ashford, CT; three nieces, Janet Petro of Meriden, CT,  Nancy Simone and her husband Mark of Southington, CT, Lisa Oliver and her husband Derek of Rutland, MA; eight nieces and nephews, John Bergeron, Shawna Bergeron, Crista Moore, Mark Simone, Joseph Simone, Daniel Simone, Charlotte Oliver and Ryann Oliver, as well as many cousins, friends and other relatives whose lives she made a difference in and who loved her very much.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William Castelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington.  Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery.   There are no calling hours.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Cook Funeral Home.
