Antonio DeAcetis, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Angelina (Balestro) DeAcetis.
He was born on July 13, 1932, in San Tommaso, Pescara, Italy, the son of the late Santo and Antoinella (Persico) DeAcetis. He served his country with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon his honorable discharge in 1954, among his awards and decorations he was the recipient of a Purple Heart. He was employed by the Torrington Company as a Foreman until his retirement.
Tony was a avid NY Yankee fan, he enjoyed traveling, going to the casinos, and taking his chances with the lottery. He loved listening to country music, working in his vegetable garden and the companionship of his feline friend, “Sweet Pea”.
He is survived by one son, Brian DeAcetis and his wife Karen of Torrington, CT; two daughters, Karen D’Onofrio and her husband Joseph of Winsted, CT, Debra Abeling of New Hartford, CT and her partner Bob Wallace; one sister, Maria Ricci of Pescara, Italy; three grandchildren, Melissa Dowden, Ashley DeAcetis, Kaitlyn DeAcetis; two great grandchildren, Alexandra and Michaela Dowden, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Domenic DeAcetis and two sisters, Ida Skrip and Carmella Rinaldi.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Siddiqi, Dr. Silda James and Dr. Wolfberg for their care and compassion towards Tony.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT to St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery will full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. Everyone attending services are reminded to follow CDC recommendations for COVID prevention by following social distancing and wearing protective face masks.
