Anthony Tadiello, 91, of Torrington, passed away on May 10, 2014, at Litchfield Woods. He was born on April 19, 1923 in Winsted, son of the late Joseph and Ottavia Tadiello.
Tony served his country during World War II as a member of the United States Navy. He received the Asiatic Pacific, the European African Middle Eastern, the American Theatre and Victory Ribbons.
Employed by the Torin Corporation as machinist until his retirement, he was a member of St. Peter Holy Name Society, a Fourth Degree Father Duggan Assembly Knight of Columbus, a member of the Torrington Elks club, and a member of VFW Post 9086.
Tony was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Gaioni) Tadiello and a sister, Rose Silvester of Winsted. He is survived by his brother, Isadore Tadiello of East Canaan, a sister, Madeline Johnson of Winsted, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St. Torrington.
