Anna C. (Scocchera) Galgano, a lifelong resident of Torrington, CT, died peacefully on December 27, 2021, at the age of 91. She was born on March 6, 1930, to the late Dominic and Louisa (Lango) Scocchera and was predeceased by her four brothers and one sister. She was the wife of the late Albert (Al) Galgano and is survived by her four daughters: Karen Marchetti, Diane DelFarno (Alan), Sandra Onderdonk (Jack) and Susan Falco (Al), two grandchildren and their spouses: Christopher Rubino (Andrea) and Sarah Rao (Tom). She was also predeceased by a stepson, Chris Galgano. Anna also left four great grandsons: Evan and Andrew Rubino and Shaun and Steven Holley and many nieces and nephews.
Anna attended Torrington schools and was employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital for 22 years. She was an active member of her church, St. Peters, and several of its organizations including the Legion of Mary and The Holy Rosary Society. She served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years and volunteered as a funeral coordinator for the parish. She received the Saint Joseph Archdiocesan Medal of Appreciation for her contributions to the church. She loved to golf and was a past member of the Eastwood Golf Club.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2021, with the cortege leaving Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, CT at 10:30 a.m. to St. Peter Church, (St. John Paul the Great Parish) 99 East Main St., Torrington, CT, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. In compliance with current COVID protocol, all attending calling hours and the Mass of Christian Burial are requested to wear protective face masks regardless of vaccination status while inside of Cook Funeral Home and St. Peter Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
