Ann M. Gioscia, 91, of Torrington died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 16th. Ann was
predeceased by her loving husband, Bobby, in 2021. Ann was the daughter of the late Flavien C. and Maude Zele, also of Torrington. Ann was a 1950 graduate of Torrington High School, and a graduate of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene at The University of Bridgeport.
Ann & Bobby married in 1953, settling in Harwinton to raise their children. Summer weekends were spent around the pool with many cousins, barbequing, playing games and joining in song with the family’s talented musicians. Their annual 4th of July picnic was always a special gathering of family and friends and a highlight of the summer. Besides working part-time as a dental hygienist, Ann enjoyed reading, knitting, country dancing and traveling with Bobby & their good friends. Hawaii, Italy, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and several cruises were just a few of their memorial trips.
When their grandchildren arrived, Ann enjoyed spending time with them and enthusiastically attending many soccer and basketball games, concerts, and dance recitals.
Ann was an avid animal lover and took care of any and all strays that crossed her path, besides spoiling her own many cats and dogs over the years.
A good pie and cookie baker, Ann loved the yearly fall “pie bake” as well as making Christmas cookies with her mother, sister Ginny and daughters over the years.
Ann was a late bloomer to the skiing world, learning in her 50’s and traversing the slopes with her husband and friends. Several winter weekends were spent sharing a cozy condo and many enjoyable runs along the trails.
Ann was a long-time parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harwinton, having served as both a catechism teacher and folk group director.
Ann is survived by her three children, Karen, widow of Patrick Ryan; Laurie married to Thomas DeVivo;
and Michael Gioscia married to Linda; her four grandchildren; Eric Morholt married to Brittany; Tyler Morholt; Gianna Gioscia and Ethan Gioscia. She is also survived by her great grandson, Michael Esteves, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ann is predeceased by her sister Virginia, and husband John Ferrucci; her two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Gottheimer and Gloria Kempner and their husbands Robert Gottheimer and David Kempner and her son-in-law Patrick Ryan.
A special thank you to the wonderful staff at Keystone Place for taking such good care of Ann over these recent years.
