Ann B. Ferencak, a lifelong member of the Torrington community, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at the age of 91.
Born in Torrington, Connecticut, on December 29, 1932, Ann attended Sacred Heart School and graduated from Torrington High School in 1950. She dedicated 41 years to The Torrington Company, where she worked as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1990. In retirement, Ann volunteered at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital gift shop, embodying her spirit of service and compassion.
A devout member of Sacred Heart Church, Ann was actively involved in various church organizations, including the Sacred Heart Altar Society, the Sacred Heart Finance Committee, and the Sacred Heart Angels and Ministers. She was also a member of the First Slovak Catholic Ladies Association.
Ann is survived by her brother, Andrew Ferencak; her niece, Nancy, and husband, Jim Barbieri; and her great-niece, Gillian Barbieri, and husband, Brett Otis. She was predeceased by her parents Anna (Smolen) and Andrew Ferencak Sr., and sister, Mary Ferencak.
The family would like to thank the staff at Keystone Place at Newbury Brook for providing an enriching and supportive community during her later years. Ann will be remembered for her kindness and unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am at St. Peter Church (St. John Paul the Great Parish), 99 East Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow at St. Francis New Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. John Paul the Great Academy (360 Prospect Street, Torrington, CT 06790) or the Macular Degeneration Association (5969 Cattleridge Boulevard, Suite #100, Sarasota, FL 34232).
